Chapter 187: Protection

Early the next morning, Zhang Siyi was the first to ‘guard’ Gu Yao. Since the company Gu Yao works for was in the opposite direction as Borderless, they had to leave their house thirty minutes earlier than usual in order for Zhang Siyi to get to his job on time. As a result, Zhang Siyi sacrificed his sleep for the sake of his ‘little sister’.

Even at thirty minutes prior to rush hour, the subway was still jammed packed. Zhang Siyi did his best to block other people from pressing themselves against Gu Yao so that she had a little breathing room.

Gu Yao leaned closer to Zhang Siyi so he could hear her amongst all the noise and asked: “Is that guy still harassing you at work?”

In order to cover up his expression, Zhang Siyi moved his hand up and coughed lightly: “I’m a guy too so I have the ability to protect myself, unlike you. Rather than worrying about me, I am more worried about you.”

Gu Yao stuck her tongue and exhaled, giving him a raspberry: “Hey, isn’t my brother jealous?”

Zhang Siyi snorted and said: “There are many people who covet him and I’m still jealous.”

Gu Yao looked at Zhang Siyi with envy. Before, she always felt that two men in love wasn’t a sustainable relationship. Knowing her brother’s character, she used to fret about the time when Zhang Siyi wouldn’t be able to tolerate it anymore and ask to break up. Gu Yao was embarrassed to tell him: “He is waiting for me to join him for dinner.”

Zhang Siyi: “Didn’t you already say no? And, he’s still waiting for you? What’s wrong with this guy?”

Gu Yao depressingly said: “He told me he was going to wait because one day, I might change my mind….”

“…..” Zhang Siyi was curious what kind of person this guy could possibly be? He looked back at the BMW again to catch a glimpse of the guy. Zhang Siyi was a bit surprised at what he saw. When listening to Yu Yao complain about this jerk, he instinctively imagined the person to be a bald, fat bellied old uncle. However, at a brief glance, he could tell that the man was well dressed, had a full head of black hair, and wasn’t fat.

Dragging him along, Gu Yao energetically walked to the subway station: “Don’t look! I don’t want him to notice us.”

Zhang Siyi: “…”

After the train arrived at the station, they got on. As they found seats, Zhang Siyi asked: “How old is that man? What does he look like?”

“Thirty-something; small eyes; nose turned up like he thinks he is better than everyone….” Gu Yao made hand gestures as she described him: “Anyways, he is very ugly.”

As they were discussing the stalker, Gu Yao mobile phone buzzed with a new text message. She showed it to Zhang Siyi and said distressed: “Look, he really saw us!”

Chapter 186: Second Brother

Upon hearing her declaration, Zhang Siyi perked up and quickly asked: “Someone is harassing you too?”

Startled for a moment, Gu Yao paused then spoke: “Wait, what? What do you mean?”

However, her attention was quickly diverted by Gu Yu’s chilling question: “What harassment? Make it clear.”

Gu Yao hesitated for a moment before slowly explaining: “Last month, a new very wealthy client took interest in our company and the manager brought me to the preliminary wealth management financial meeting. At that time, the client took notice of me. As our department was managing his investments, he came over frequently each week. Anytime there was a meeting, whether it was in the building or out to lunch, he requested my presence. As this was part of our department, I couldn’t refuse. However, not long ago, he wanted my business card and had added me to his WeChat contacts. Privately, he began to ask me out saying that he wanted to take me to a movie or have dinner with him. I seriously refused every time, but he didn’t stop. Recently, he has been sending things to my office every day. At first it was cakes, but lately it has been other things. Today, he sent a large bouquet of roses!”

Zhang Siyi mouth twitched. Why does this sound so familiar? He just received a cake today at noon…… Fuck, Gu Yu was right. Bai Rui really thought of him as a young girl!

Gu Yu calmly asked: “How long has he been asking you out privately?

And if I don’t go with him, he would just continue sending me things….”

Zhang Siyi angrily said: “Damn! What a jerk!”

Gu Yao cried out: “Yes!”

Gu Yu was livid: “In addition to the gifts, did he do anything else? Anything physical?”

Gu Yao shook her head: “Nothing yet, but the incidents have greatly impacted work. Now, every time he sends something, it causes the people in my department to go into a frenzy.”

Zhang Siyi hurriedly replied: “Of course it’s not your fault! It is the man’s fault for not respecting you. He’s an asshole.”

Surrounded by an unhealthy environment for so long , Gu Yao was starting to feel like something was wrong with her. She was stunned by the forcefulness of Zhang Siyi’s declaration. Finally, after so long there were people on her side. A bright light pierced the fog of suffering.

Gu Yao firmly said: “That’s right. He imposed his will onto me with gifts and used my colleagues for his selfish wishes. He didn’t care about my feelings at all and that’s what makes me really uncomfortable!”

Gu Yu raised one of his eyebrows and asked: “With a small gift, are you supposed to run into his arms? Surely, your colleague doesn’t really believe that is love. “

Gu Yu joked: “Besides, if you run away from just a few gifts, what were all those years of food for the Gu family for?”

Breaking the heavy atmosphere, Zhang Siyi laughed out loud. Gu Yu’s joke was just the right medicine.

Gu Yao: “Ah? Aren’t you both very busy? Wouldn’t it be too much trouble?”

Zhang Siyi: “It’s no trouble at all. What if the client isn’t just inside, but outside too? What are you going to do alone?”

Gu Yao shrunk her neck sheepishly: “In fact, he was waiting for me downstairs when I got off work these past two nights.”

Zhang Siyi: “What?”

Gu Yu face became serious: “All the more reason to pick you up.”

It wasn’t until after work when they met each other at the subway station that they could talk freely about the day’s event: “When I took the cake out of the box, there was a package of candles. Guess how many there were.”

Gu Yu: “Thirty-five?”

Zhang Siyi: ”…… “

Zhang Siyi scratched his head: “Umm.. If he can deliver a cake as a request from his girlfriend on a weekday, then maybe he is doing her a favor?” Fuck! Zhang Siyi was afraid of his own train of thought that he gave himself goose bumps.

Gu Yu: “A straight man probably wouldn’t feel like anything was particularly wrong.”

A bead of sweat fell from Zhang Siyi forehead… I am so lucky that Gu Yu is by my side and can remain calm in WeChat. (=_=)
